Serving more than 64,000 students, the University of British Columbia (UBC) recently announced that it achieved 34th place on the 2019 Times Higher Education World University Rankings. Last year, UBC ranked 37th. The elevated position on the list is in part the result of the institution’s growing reputation for research and teaching excellence. Additionally, UBC scored highly in the Times Higher Education International Outlook category, which gauges an institution’s ability to attract faculty and students from around the world.
The Times rankings were established in 2004. In 2019, the rankings assessed 1,396 institutions of higher learning across 92 regions and countries, more schools than ever before, making UBC’s achievement all the more noteworthy.
